ODL Decorative Low-E Doorglass Products For Stimulus Tax Credit
Customers can still claim the 30/30 Stimulus Tax Credit through 2010. To increase their stimulus-approved products, ODL is now offering their best selling decorative doorglass families with Low-E glass.
Sizes 22x64 and 8x64 will be available in Low-E in the following families:
Ø Paris Ø Cadence
Ø Nouveau (nickel only) Ø Oak Park
Ø Heirlooms (brass only) Ø Radiant Hues
Ø Expressions (satin nickel) and Heirlooms (satin nickel) will be in stock at the end of January 2010
To meet the stimulus criteria, doors that have an opaque U factor value of .16 or higher will require Low-E for larger decorative doorglass panels. Smaller size decorative units without Low-E already qualify today, and these doorglass families will still be available as a standard offering with clear glass. Low-E will be an alternative option for full lights.
Note: If you install a full sidelight with a smaller size doorlight, you should order the full decorative sidelight with standard clear glass. The full decorative sidelight with Low-E will show a tint in comparison to a decorative doorlight without Low-E.

or exceeds the new stringent energy codes!
Meeting the energy requirements of the Federal Tax Credit has required the industry to develop enhanced products
that offer greater energy savings. ODL has achieved this
and is now offering Performance Plus Low-ES as an option on several standard product lines.
- Performance Plus Low-ES glass reduces both
energy loss (U-Value) and solar heat gain (SHGC).
- Performance Plus Low-ES is necessary on several
full-view glass lights to meet the tax credit criteria. Standard Low-E will meet the required .30/.30
values on most smaller glass sizes.
- The price difference is minimal between Low-E and Performance Plus Low-ES.

New BHI Stainable/Paintable Aluminum Astragal
A new painting process, formulated specifically for our DLP aluminum astragal, allows the product to be top-coated using the same gel stain or latex paint on the entire door system. The electromagnetically applied primer is the same color as most woodgrain fiberglass doors. Easily create a wood grain appearance by applying the stain with a rough bristled brush. (See the instructions below for more details.)
As always, our aluminum astragals continue to maintain Florida Building Code compliance.
Staining Instructions
*The door and astragal should be stained as one
- Wipe down the door and astragal with mineral
spirits to remove any contaminates or oil.
- Allow the mineral spirits to dry. Tape off or remove the trim strips and any hardware installed into the astragal.
- Apply an interior gel/wiping stain using a chip brush. Apply the stain in light coats, following the grain of the door. Once each coat becomes tacky, brush the astragal with the chip brush to create the wood grain effect. Let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next. (Apply at least 2 coats.)
- Once the stain has fully cured, apply a SPAR Varnish for protection from the elements. Follow the manufacturers’ suggestions for this application.
